Project Overview
SeniorTix is a fictional website dedicated to helping senior citizens easily find deals and discounts on tickets for local events. I was tasked with improving the accessibility of this website, as the website had a number of accessibility issues. I decided to focus on the card design of the individual events, redesigning the layout of the cards to better serve users especially considering the target audience of this website is senior citizens who are likely to have some form of visual impairment.
Process
Starting with an overview of what the website currently looks like, at first glance it may not seem like there are many issues with the website. However, after simulating the effects of visual impairment and red green color blindness, you can better see the number of issues the website has.

Simulated Severe Visual Impairment
Simulated Red-Green Colorblindness
As you can see, the text is not legible at all with for anyone with blurry vision and the color-coded icons aren't usable to those with color blindness. As stated before, I wanted to focus specifically on improving the event cards. Below I pointed out some of the major accessibility issues with the layout of the cards as they are now.

Now understanding these issues, I was able to create a much more accessible design while still keeping the theme of the previous event card. Contrast is greatly improved, the actual discount the user gets is much more clear, and there's a better understanding of the event with the added details. I also took the liberty of adding an option to "heart" an event to save it for later in case the user wasn't interested in signing up for the event at that exact moment.

With our new card design on the website, let's simulate those visual impairments again and see how much better it looks for those that don't have great vision!
